That training became one of the influences behind the way we approached our own systems in North East Victoria: learn the principles, build the system, operate it and then keep adjusting it from what the fish, plants and water tell you.
The training covered system operation, water quality, biofiltration, plant nutrition, pest management, farm design, budgeting, planning and the marketing of produce — the sort of subjects that become important when aquaponics moves from a hobby system toward serious food production.
Murray Hallam’s Future Farms MASTER CLASS gave us the knowledge and confidence to design and operate our own systems here in the King Valley.
It was a hands-on course that has continued to guide how we build, test and refine our systems — always learning, always improving.
