They grow as climbing vines, so a trellis or other support helps keep the plants manageable and makes the small fruit easier to find. Like cucumbers, they appreciate warmth, regular moisture and a productive growing medium.
Mouse melons (Melothria scabra) are tiny cucumber relatives sometimes called cucamelons. The 2017 KVA story highlighted their vigorous growth, unusual appearance and fresh cucumber-like flavour.
